Owning a Production Location - 1
First off, it's not really "filming" anymore. What we're talking about is called "location shooting" - as opposed to shooting in a production studio - and it's normally digital video or photography.
It's not for everyone, but for people who own special places and love to show them off, it can be an exciting experience, with fun benefits.
LocoLoco specializes in linking production crews with home, farm and business owners who want to try something new and different. Very simply, LocoLoco is a "Location Scout" company.
How does it all work?
LocoLoco keeps a "catalog" of venues that we "pre-scout". That means we collect places that we feel may interest a production client at some future date. We know what they want & need.
Each project, or "gig", is completely different.
You never know what an art director might ask for next, and that's where LocoLoco comes in...
They call us for an upcoming gig and we check our very private database to see what might work for the specific project's requirements.
Essentially, we act as your agent. We contract, negotiate, and cover all bases.
What does a Pre-Scout session entail?
It's pretty straight-forward. Once we have met with you via phone and discussed everything together, we determine if your place might be a good addition to our catalog. That's up to you.
If both parties still have interest, we'll send our "scout photographer" over to "shoot the heck" out of your place. That means maybe 80-200 shots in a half-hour or so, at your leisure. We'll shoot everything you allow, just in case.
Why everything? You'd be amazed at what we are asked to find. How's your laundry room? That's been a gig-clincher more than twice!
« I was nervous at first, but now that we've done a couple, I hate to see them leave! Playing "Hollywood" really breaks up a boring week. Always so interesting! »

How to prepare and what to expect
when the scout photographer arrives
It's really no big deal. We've seen it all.
There is nothing to get flustered about...
we aren't there to grade your housekeeping. Homes are for living in! It's not a museum.
If we send a scout, we'll be primarily looking at the space itself, ambient light, "shootability", camera gear access, overall colors and layout...
Your furniture, decor and flavors are all frosting on the cake! But those things can be tweaked. Walls and windows don't move. Those are the things we see when scouting a potential site.
Of course, the more you tidy up, the better the shots will look. But please don't stress over it.
What do I need to do during the scout?
The main thing: Turn on ALL the lights. We do not shoot with flash. We want to see the light that is there naturally. Photography is Light.
If you choose to lead our scout throughout the place, that's great. They ask questions and talk your ear off. After all, info is everything in our business. Always thinking, always networking, always looking for that "special something".
Or, if you're busy, unleash them... it's faster.
What happens next? Who see the shots?
We process and arrange the scout shots into a secure webpage that no one sees, without an account, passcode, URL & specific permission for a limited time. We don't screw around.
IF and when we show your place for a specific project, we'll contact you to gauge your interest and availablity. Should all the stars align, and your place is selected, the real fun begins!
- This is fascinating! Tell me more.
- Let me see a sample house page.
- I'm totally into it. Where do I sign up?
« I've loved working with LocoLoco for the past four years. We've had 3 different shoots in our home so far. We enjoy the crews and the extra income is great, too! »
